Although the price of commercial property is at an all time low, two Connecticut real estate agents were weary when a man that called himself Edward Blake offered them the deal of a lifetime. The real estate agent in question is really a scam artist, and his real name is Kassiem Miley. He has been on the run since 2003, and police suspect that he has swindled dozens of unsuspecting property buyers in the last few years. Offering a property 41-43 Orchard Street in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Miley was able to show the property even though he is not the owner. Miley first offered the property to Lou Longwa of Longwa Realty Company for $22,000. After Miley received a deposit for 10% of the total price he was never seen by Longwa again.
After Miley was able to scam one target he turned his sights on another. Miley used the same property to scam Loretta Anyafulu of ALO Realty Company. All in all, Kassiem Miley was able to bilk $12,500 out of his victims before he was finally apprehended in Maryland. He was extradited to Connecticut where he is being held in lieu of a sizable cash bond. Authorities have not yet indicated whether or now Miley will have to pay restitution, but they are interested in hearing from any other victims that he may have scammed. Miley faces a slew of charges that include forgery, criminal impersonation, identity theft and larceny. He will be formally arraigned sometime in March, and police expect his victims to play an instrumental role in his upcoming trial.
